Whether you’re working from home, or in an office together, using an integrated Project Management system is a must!
A typical work flow with Tiny Gnomes
Chat (forum, ideation) - The team discusses things they want to build, or make happen, or address. Forum threads are created for each silo. A LOBBY or GENERAL thread is always wise to create instantly.
Other forum thread topics common to most projects are INDUSTRY NEWS and UPDATES.
Depending on your goals or industry, you might have topics very specific to a given project. It all starts with communication though.
Wikis – This is where we collect and store information everyone in the project is going to want to have access to. Think of it as a word processor on the web. A common practice is to capture the smart things your own team says in chat.
A wiki might become the plan itself for building a product, or a list of common issues with customers you want to track. Wikis become your own searchable depository over time.
Tasks – Once you know what your doing, it’s time to lock down who is doing what, and when will it be due. Tiny Gnomes has many best practices to consider.
Each task should have a LEAD and a DOER. The doer does the work itself. But the lead is responsible for making sure the instructions are clear, that the task itself is accountable (start times, end times, duration, etc.
Tasks have their own chat threads, allowing the team, as well as just people watching the task, to focus on just things related to the one task.
There are a myriad of warnings and alarms on tasks to ensure no one drops the ball, including MILESTONES, END DATE, SMS ALARMS, etc.
Calendar – There are always meetings, but Tiny Gnomes attempts to help people reduce meetings.
One trick is to create a meeting with an agenda, and then attempt to accomplish the agenda before the meeting even happens. This is done by warning the attendees of the goal of the meeting beforehand.
The calendar also features MEMOS which are much like 3M Post-it® notes right on your screen. But they offer a feature the paper concept can’t, they have a toggle button that makes it clear if you have addressed the memo. One can scan the whole calendar and instantly see if anything has been forgotten.
Files – Most projects have file, either given from outside people or companies, or generated inside.
Tiny Gnomes has a deeply powerful file manager with robust features such as OCR, Search, Tagging, and full compatibility with 3rd party systems through WebDAV.
Reports – Everyone needs to get paid, and the most common Report to run is an invoice. Tiny Gnomes may offer the easiest Invoice system ever.
A few clicks and you have a professional Invoice including all meetings and tasks tallied up.
